A young patient on the latest episode of TLC’s Dr. Pimple Popper tragically died soon after filming the show. Kevin Olaeta, who was posthumously featured on season four of the show, passed away “peacefully but unexpectedly” on May 18, 2019, according to his obituary. He was 31.

Dr. Sandra Lee, MD, who is known for the extraordinary care and consideration she gives her patients, posted a tribute to Olaeta on Instagram shortly after the episode aired.

“I found out months after our taping that Kevin had passed away unexpectedly,” Dr. Lee wrote in the caption. “Love and strength to his family and friends, especially his father.”

The credits of the episode featured the tribute “In Loving Memory of Kevin Olaeta 1988-2019.”

Olaeta’s obituary says he had a passion for guitars, music, motorcycles and cars. He was an electrician by trade, working with his father and hoping to take over the family business. On the show, he had a sweet and soft-spoken demeanor that made him a quick fan-favorite.

Olaeta saw Dr. Lee for a large cyst on his jawline that had been growing steadily for six years. He told the famed dermatologist that the bump looked like a “jawbreaker” protruding from his cheek. In his episode, Olaeta said he wanted the growth removed so he could “go out into the world and hang out and meet people.”

One fan commented, “After I watched this episode I thought to myself, So glad for this kind sweet man. I hope all his dreams materialize. Then I saw at the end [of the episode] that Kevin had passed. So sad for him and for his father.”

Another fan added, “Kevin had the most beautiful blue eyes and was so excited to start dating and enjoying his life. He was so sweet.”
