While some people will opt for a city break or a beach trip, others want something a bit more cheeky.
Aside from the terrible pun, you’re probably here to find out about a man who went on a 2,000-person nude cruise.
Far from being a free willy, there actually happens to be strict rules on board, along with the one thing that ‘everyone knew’ they had to follow.
Taking to Reddit, the man opened up about what it was actually like to go on a certain type of holiday.

The trip, organised by Texas-based company Bare Necessities Tour and Travel, set sail from Tampa, Florida, and allowed passengers to take in the beauty of Mexico and Honduras during its seven days at sea.
The anonymous man said the US trip, which cost around $2,500 (£1,965) per person, was ‘awesome’, and reiterated that it was ‘not a swingers’ cruise or a sex-positive environment’, but rather ‘a crowd with lots of nudist experience’.
And there were some stipulations all passengers had to abide by.
To start, he explained how the captain would make an announcement about 30 minutes after exiting a part about ‘when clothes can be removed’.

“Same, in reverse, going into port,” he said.
He also stressed that there was no obligation to remove your clothes if you didn’t want to, however, ‘most people were nude most of the time‘.
Opening up the thread to questions from curious Redditors, one user asked: “Do you carry a towel everywhere you go? It seems rather gross to have multiple naked sweaty bodies sitting or laying on everything that everyone uses.”
The man responded: “Yes. One must only sit with a towel under one’s bare butt. There are clean towels all over the ship.”
As for the most important rule of all: no photography.

Adding that this was a rule ‘everyone knew’, he explained: “I was much less worried here than I have been at nude beaches. Almost no one had phones with them outside their cabin.
“There were many signs posted. There were a lot of staff from the charter company whose job it was to enforce good naturist etiquette.
“And I’ve spent time online researching nudism and I’ve never seen a single online photograph from the cruise except for the group shots that people voluntarily pose for.
“For those reasons, I wasn’t concerned.”

Holidays are what we make them. And for some, that includes stripping down to what Mother Nature gave you.
It’s not for everyone, but the likes of nudist beaches prove very popular for some. Then you can take it one step further: enter the nude cruise.
When not conducting your bog-standard trips, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Pearl cruise ship is transformed into a nudist’s paradise for the Bare Necessities Tour and Travel company, run from Texas in the United States.
The naked extravaganza tours the likes of Mexico and Honduras after setting sail from Tampa, Florida, for a week of fun at sea.
Some 2,300 passengers can fit on the vessel, with the ‘Big Nude Boat 2025’ currently taking bookings for an 11 day tour before it sets sail next year.
One man has taken to Reddit to share his experience on the nudist trip, saying it comes with one particular rule – no photos. Fair enough really.
“There were many signs posted. There were a lot of staff from the charter company whose job it was to enforce good naturist etiquette,” he wrote.
“And I’ve spent time online researching nudism and I’ve never seen a single online photograph from the cruise except for the group shots that people voluntarily pose for. For those reasons, I wasn’t concerned.”
But it’s not the only rule, with Bare Necessities having a handy FAQ section for those interested in travelling nude.
Firstly, you have to wear clothes while docked in port, in the main and specialty dining rooms, and at the Captain’s Gala Cocktail Party.

It doesn’t have to be fancy – it can be casual wear.
But the company stresses that it cannot be lingerie or fetish wear. Even robes are banned while in the above setting.
Outside of these times, ‘you may be nude throughout the ship morning, noon, and night’, it says.
When it comes to etiquette, the firm says ‘use common sense’, adding it’s ‘not any different from proper etiquette in any other social situation’.
Formal wear is sometimes expected on cruise ships, with them regularly having formal nights to participate. But Bare Necessities is all about having a good time in a comfortable setting, with them not required at any point.
“Casual attire is acceptable at all times. This includes at the Captain’s reception,” the company says.

There’s also rules when it comes to having more than two people in one cabin room.
Bare Necessities says it’s completely fine, explaining that the cost of a third or fourth person will vary from cruise to cruise ‘but is always a fraction of the full stateroom cost’.
It says: “If you plan to do this, be sure to pick a stateroom that is equipped with extra beds such as a pull-out sofa. Our agents will be happy to assist you in identifying these cabins.”
On the flip side, if you’re travelling solo you can also request a roommate, with the company saying it’ll help you in doing this.
It says: “We prefer that you not confirm your reservation until a traveling companion has been found. We will place you on our wait list and put you in touch with others looking to share a cabin. In order to add you to our list, you must be ready to book a cabin.”
The cost to travel on the nude boat is around $2,500 (£1,965) per person, with the most luxurious cabin available at $33,155 (£26,021) for a two person cabin.

From exploring the sights of historic cities to relaxing on a desert island, we all have different ideas at to what constitutes a good summer holiday.
But, one less conventional option you may not have considered is a nude cruise.
‘What the hell is that?’ I hear you cry. Well, it’s exactly what it says on the tin — a cruise where clothing is completely optional for passengers.
Nudity is in fact encouraged on board, with the captain announcing ‘when clothes can be removed’ — about 30 minutes after exiting a port.
After disembarking from ‘a 2,000 person nude cruise’ two days ago, one man took to Reddit to give users an insight into the unique travel experience, including what would happen if someone got a bit too excited.
The trip, organised by Texas-based company Bare Necessities Tour and Travel, set sail from Tampa, Florida, and allowed passengers to take in the beauty of the likes of Mexico and Honduras during its seven days at sea.
The anonymous man said the trip, which cost around $2,500 (£1,965) per person, was ‘awesome’, before opening up the Reddit thread to questions from curious users.
One user asked: “Maybe not specific to the cruise, but nudism in general… I’m assuming boners just happen, since it happens in everyday clothed life, too. Are they frowned upon or just accepted in this environment?”
The original poster, an experienced nudist, responded by saying that erections ‘almost never happen.’
“This cruise is very non-sexual, so a man would want to hide it somehow. Non-nudists think about this a lot more than nudists do,” they said.
Another queried: “What was the rule for boners?” to which he responded: “As I said above, this is something that non-nudists worry about a lot more than nudists. I’ve been a nudist for ten years and I’ve almost never seen one.
“Since this cruise is not a sex-positive event, the man would be expected to conceal it.”
But if the ‘nudist thing is not sexual in nature at all, what is it for?’ asked a third.
Well, the cruise passenger simply enjoys be nude when doing activities such as swimming, dancing and walking solo on the beach.
“It’s the same reason men don’t wear shirts to go swimming or on the beach. It’s a great feeling. I’m sure some people have an exhibitionist thrill, but I don’t. Also, I’m not sure that a naked person among 2,000 naked people could be considered an exhibitionist.”
