Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Skipped David Beckham’s 50th Because This One Person Was Invited: Exclusive Source

When David Beckham celebrated his 50th birthday with a star-studded bash in London on May 3, two people were noticeably absent from the post-party photos Victoria Beckham posted to Instagram: their oldest son Brooklyn, 26, and Brooklyn’s wife, actress and director Nicola Peltz, 30.

At the time, an insider told PEOPLE that the couple were most certainly invited to the affair, while acknowledging there was some drama behind the scenes.

“There are tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family,” the source said, adding, “The relationship is definitely not beyond repair. They love and are always there for him. They’re just hurt and disappointed that he’s now playing no part in family life.”

But another source tells PEOPLE that the reason Brooklyn and Nicola opted out of going to the event was because of Romeo Beckham’s new girlfriend, DJ Kim Turnbull, 24, whom the source says was once linked to Brooklyn.

“Brooklyn didn’t want to be in the same room as her, and he told his dad that,” the source says. “But David opted to have Kim there over Nicola.” A second source adds, “Brooklyn and Kim know each other from the past, and his family knows he’s not comfortable around her.”

On a recent Instagram post, however, Brooklyn’s younger brother Cruz replied to a commenter noting that “Brooklyn and Kim never dated.” A source also told PEOPLE that the pair never dated.

Reps for David and Victoria and Brooklyn and Nicola did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The source adds that the couple had flown to London from the US allegedly with the intention of attending the event, or at least taking David out to dinner for a more intimate celebration or going to one of his other parties. However, the source claims they were shut out. “They stayed for six days trying to see him,” the source says.

Missing the celebration has only added to the obvious growing rift between Brooklyn and Nicola and the rest of the family, which includes siblings Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 13.

A source recently confirmed to PEOPLE that the feud was heating up, noting that the relationship first became strained leading up to the young couple’s 2022 wedding in Palm Beach, Florida.

“When Nicola and Brooklyn [Beckham] got engaged, Victoria told Nicola that she’d love to make her wedding dress, and Nicola said it would be her honor,” the source said, adding that everyone thought it would be a special added touch to their big day.

However, the source says that it quickly became clear that the dress wasn’t a priority for Victoria, and allegedly Victoria called Peltz’s mother, not Nicola herself, to tell her she wouldn’t be able to make it.

“Nicola was painted as a brat for not wearing Victoria Beckham at the wedding,” the source says, adding that the Beckhams didn’t stick up for her by admitting it was Victoria who had pulled out of designing the gown.

However, another insider says, “A quick google search will show how many times this pointless story has been recycled to try and paint Nicola as somehow a victim. It’s pretty clear to all that this is far from the truth.” The source adds, “As ever the Beckhams have stayed above it all despite constant attacks through the media. It’s sad as they love their son and they have all tried so hard with Nicola but it’s become impossible.”

Not long after their April wedding, Peltz also denied any rumors of drama, telling Variety that there was no clash over the wedding dress whatsoever, despite the persistent rumors.

“I was going to [wear Victoria Beckham] and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress. She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that,” she told the outlet at the time.

While it’s unclear how Kim Turnbull and Brooklyn were allegedly linked, Brooklyn recently told US Glamour that when he met his wife Nicola Peltz in 2021, he immediately knew he’d found the one. “It was obvious,” he told the outlet.

Romeo Beckham and Kim Turnbull have been dating since November 2024, where, in a series of photos posted to Beckham’s Instagram Stories, the twosome could be seen sharing a meal and cozying up in a car.

In January 2025, the pair supported David Beckham at the launch of his Boss One collection, and just a month later, on Valentine’s Day in February 2025, Romeo posted two photos: one of the two embracing, and the other of Turnbull posing with Beckham’s younger sister. Harper.

“I love you so much 🫂🤍 @kim_turnbull,” he wrote.

The granddaughter of artist William Turnbull has clearly been accepted as part of the Beckham’s orbit: In March 2025, she, Victoria’s Paris Fashion Week show alongside Romeo.

“Congratulations @victoriabeckham the most beautiful show 🖤,” Turnbull wrote on Instagram afterwards.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn has been leaning on “his rock” Nicola while he navigates the family drama, a source says, and he recently gushed about her on Instagram.
