Joey Fatone is sharing his thoughts on what it’ll take to get one of the 1990s’ biggest pop groups back together.
Speaking with PEOPLE about his partnership with Red Lobster to celebrate the new $19.99 3-Course Shrimp Sensation, the performer updated fans on what could be in the cards when it comes to an *NSYNC reunion.
“Of course, the big question is, is *NSYNC ever getting back together? The answer is, we haven’t had that conversation yet,” he tells PEOPLE.
“The five of us need to get together, and that day has not happened yet. Everybody’s everywhere in the world, and I think it’s more important to get everybody in-person as opposed to just getting on a chat or on a phone call,” Fatone explains.

“People always think, ‘Oh, it’s easy. Just get on the phone and talk.’ There’s a lot of things that have to become fortuitous for that — a lot of commitment, a lot of time. Everybody has families. Most people have kids, so then you have to take that into consideration.”
“It’s one of those things that hopefully, *NSYNC does get back together,” he says, rooting for the moment fans have been begging for.
In the meantime, Fatone continues his time on Broadway in & Juliet, playing Lance until July 31.
“I’m doing things that are fun when I get a chance, like this Red Lobster commercial. I’m fortunate enough to be able to do fun things, where me being that recognizable is able to do something, and obviously Red Lobster is ridiculously recognizable too.”
“After I do Broadway, I might take just a little bit of a break, and then maybe do a couple more shows, and then hopefully have a conversation with *NSYNC, maybe do more Broadway,” he muses.
Fatone appreciates that in this stage of his career, “I could throw stuff on the wall now and see what sticks.”
“It’s not like, ‘Oh, I have to do this.’ It’s more or less, ‘What’s going to be fun for me now?’ 48 years old. What else do I really need? I mean, I got so much more ahead of me, of course, but in the sense of really getting out there and promoting myself, what do I really need to do?” he reasons.
