A$AP Rocky says he is ready to work among “greatness.”
In an interview with Variety published Tuesday, May 6, Rocky, 36, opened up about starring alongside Denzel Washington, 70, for Spike Lee‘s new film Highest 2 Lowest — an achievement that allows the rapper and actor a chance to work with two of his idols.
When asked if he was nervous to work with the Oscar-winning actor, Rocky explained, “Nah, I was born for this.”
“I’m not gonna waste nobody’s time. This is what I do — this is the same approach you would take to making an album or to directing or designing anything: You’ve got to give it your all,” Rocky continued.

In Lee’s remake of the Akira Kurosawa crime drama High and Low, Rocky plays aspiring rapper Yung Felon, who is intent on being noticed by Washington’s music mogul character.
The first trailer features Washington delivering a monologue about the highest highs and the lowest lows associated with success, along with moments showcasing performances from rapper Rocky, Jeffrey Wright and Ilfenesh Hadera, who round out the movie’s cast.

Rocky says working with Washington “was like a f—— dream come true.”
“But trust me, it was difficult to not fan the f— out every millisecond of the f—— duration. It was crazy — it’s f——- Denzel, man. I don’t give a f— how successful [I am]: I’m always gonna be a student and a fan of certain people, and I’m always going to give them their flowers,” Rocky continued, later sharing some of his favorite films starring Washington, such as Juice and Malcolm X.
“I’m never going to be too big to be able to say that I had to hold my composure from not fanning out.”
