Wendy Williams Has Been Taken to the Hospital — Details
After a police wellness check, the 60-year-old television personality was sent to the hospital, where a psychiatrist later evaluated her mental capacity.
According to a spokesperson’s statement to USA Today, the New York Police Department (NYPD) conducted a welfare check at Wendy Williams’ senior living facility on Monday, March 10. Emergency medical services (EMS) later transported her to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
The 60-year-old TV host’s hospitalization led to further medical evaluations. According to TMZ, doctors at Lenox Hill Hospital conducted an independent psychiatric assessment to determine whether she is capable of managing her own affairs.
The results of this evaluation could impact the court-ordered guardianship that currently controls her finances and personal decisions. Meanwhile, the NYPD and Adult Protective Services have been investigating claims that her senior living facility restricts her movements, allegedly requiring permission for her to leave her floor.
A psychiatrist determined that Williams remains mentally capable. She took a “capacity test” consisting of 10 key questions designed to measure cognitive function. Sources told TMZ that she answered all questions correctly, scoring a perfect 10 out of 10.
