‘Wow’: Nelly Furtado, 46, Shows Off Her ‘Natural’ and ‘Curvy’ Body in an Orange Swimsuit – Photos
Fans are gushing over Nelly Furtado’s recent social media post, in which she showed off her curvaceous body alongside a heartfelt and vulnerable message about body image and self-love.
In one photo, which was taken from the back, she is seen jutting out her hip, with her head turned over her left shoulder, as she looks in the mirror with a cheeky yet demure smile.

The cover image displays Furtado facing forward with her right foot positioned on the lower half of her left leg as she holds onto her phone.
In her accompanying caption, the “Promiscuous” hitmaker shared an empowering message about self-love, embracing individuality, and shutting down speculation that she’s had cosmetic surgeries or enhancements.
Furtado began by reflecting on how she’s become increasingly aware of the pressures she faces in her line of work.
“This year I became aware of the aesthetic pressure of my work in a brand new way,” she wrote, before adding that, despite that external pressure, she has found “new levels of self-love and genuine confidence from within.”
In a bold move, Furtado then addressed the misinformation spread online about her beauty routine, revealing that she recently had to take legal action against individuals spreading false claims. She went on to set the record straight on the cosmetic procedures — or lack thereof — that she has had.
“For whoever cares, I have never had any face or body surgeries or augmentation, besides for veneers on the top row of my teeth, quite recently. So far, I have not had any face or lip injections or fillers of any kind,” the singer clarified.
Furtado did, however, share that she has maintained a skincare routine with the help of a “loving, old-school facialist” whom she has trusted since she was 20 years old.
Her post also shed light on the transformative power of makeup and styling tricks, which can sometimes lead to misconceptions about her appearance. The singer revealed that face and body tape are often used by her makeup artists and stylists to achieve certain looks for red carpets and photoshoots.

“Makeup can do magical things! So can great eyebrows! So can a great hairstylist! So can great underthings!” she noted, adding that the photos accompanying her post were completely makeup-free aside from a spray tan.
Honing in on another aspect of her physicality, Furtado shared, “I have spider veins (🕷️😮) and they remind me of my mom and aunties and life so I think that’s why I haven’t parted with them so far.”
Perhaps the most powerful part of Furtado’s post was the advice she gave to the public, encouraging them to embrace self-expression and celebrate their individuality.
“My New Year’s message for 2025 is, express yourself freely, celebrate your individuality, and know that it’s perfectly OK to be OK with what you see in the mirror, and it’s also OK to want something different,” the star mentioned.
At the end of her message, Furtado made it clear that her post isn’t about criticizing anyone else’s choices or lifestyle. Instead, it is about reclaiming her own narrative in the face of ongoing rumors.
“PS — this post is not intended to hate on anyone. I am just joining the storytelling community and this story is MINE,” pointed out Furtado.
Many social media users who came across the post flooded comment sections with compliments. “A real natural body is very beautiful 🙌,” opined a fan, while another praised, “This is such a natural beautiful curvy body. we need more women like Nelly Furtado coming out and showing unfiltered pics of how they’re bodies REALLY look…I think she looks hot!!🔥🔥🔥 [sic].”
“She’s real, with real [sic] body:),” added a Facebooker. Another echoed, “A real woman with a real body! Go on girl! 👏.” “It’s nice to see a celeb with a real body and unfiltered. An actual real woman ❤️,” commended an admirer.
Similar comments ensued, with yet another fan chiming in with, “Love this. A real body finally.” “Since gaining weitght [sic] her face is much prettier,” observed someone else. “She looks great wish I had her abs,” asserted a Facebooker.
On the other hand, some people were simply taken aback by how different the early 2000s “It” girl looks today.
“Wow it’s a big change… i miss her songs [sic],” remarked a Facebooker, while another penned, “Oh she’s totally unrecognizable but be well !!! Flex 💪 don’t hurt no one [sic]!!!” “She look [sic] different. Can’t recognize her,” commented an Instagrammer.
While the musical star may appear remarkably different from what fans remember her to be back in the day, Furtado revealed that her image back then was manipulated.

Speaking to People in September 2024 about the matter, she disclosed, “I have olive skin, and they’d kind of lighten my skin a lot in photos and kind of take my hips down all the time — they would always cut off in editorials.”

Two months after speaking to People, Furtado shared more candid revelations during an episode of Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast.
During the conversation, the duo touched on the themes of self-confidence and love. On the matter, Furtado revealed that she feels most confident with who she is now as opposed to when she was younger.
When Cooper asked what sparked this change, Furtado could not pinpoint the exact cause. However, she said her glow-up came when she reached her forties and had time to work on her “inner life.”
Although she acknowledged how harsh social media can be with her “polarizing body,” Furtado highlighted, “But I think, at the end of the day, it can be really positive because you’re starting conversations, and that comes from confidence, and I think that’s what it is.”
The musician also touched on how her body has “changed a lot” after having three kids, acknowledging her curves and comparing the acceptance of curvaceous figures in her parents’ hometown versus elsewhere.
Nevertheless, Furtado made it clear, “It’s all context. Maybe they’re comparing you to another era when maybe you looked different […] But I’ve had fun with it because I’ve been wearing very bodycon clothing, and it’s very empowering, and I […] love feeling this confident.”
Besides reflecting on her body image and sparking online chatter about her physicality, Nelly Furtado released an album called “7” last year (2024). The album, which is streamable on Spotify, includes 14 songs and several artist features, like singer Charlotte Day Wilson.
Speaking about her comeback in the music industry to Wonderland magazine in 2024, Furtado reflected on her reasons for making music and whether they have changed since her heyday.
“So, making the new album, I remembered so clearly what it’s all about, which is literally just the making of it. It’s so simple. Hanging out with DJs really helped me remember that it’s really just about the listeners vibing out to this pure thing you made,” divulged the singer.
Furtado, who said she still feels like the 19-year-old girl in raver pants hanging up posters in Toronto that she started out as, continued, “Just having fun musically and just being in that same place. Music is my escape and my hobby — it’s literally my hobby. I’m constantly making playlists and getting new remixes from DJs.”
