The POV footage has given social media users a fresh insight into how dangerous a firefighter’s job really is

First person footage of a firefighter going into a house ablaze has offered people a new perspective on how dangerous the job really is.

We all know what firefighters do, and how much of a risk to life their jobs can be – or do we?

It’s all well and good understanding the job, but it’s something completely different to be there yourself, carrying it out.

GoPro footage of a firefighter putting out a raging house fire has given people the point of view seen by firefighters, and it has (unsurprisingly) gone viral, joining the long list of intriguing events caught by a GoPro.

Posted on the official GoPro YouTube channel, it is by far the most serious and eye-opening video posted on the channel in months, though they do post some interesting exploration and extreme transport videos.

The almost four-minute video showcases a burning home located in Santiago, Chile, and the firemen and firewomen for the Third Fire Company of Ñuñoa coming to the rescue, working to put the flames out.

One of the brave workers has a GoPro strapped to their chest, ensuring that we see everything that they can.

His name is Joseth Abel Espinoza, and he was thrown into the fire – quite literally.

The team quickly arrived, rolled the house out and got to work, which we can see him doing.

Espinoza can be seen attempting to put flames out with the powerful fire hose, and does as good a job as possible, putting out the majority of flames.

The house was sadly lost, but nobody was hurt as a result, once again revealing how much first responders must face in an emergency to keep us safe.

Social media users took to the comments to share how impressed they were at the fireman’s bravery.

One said: “Damn that’s wild. Much respect. I think we all logically know what fire fighters do, but to see it from this perspective brings a whole new level of understanding.

Another added: “I’m never complaining about coming into the office on a Monday again.”

A third wrote: “This is what REAL super heroes do. Everyday. All over the world.”

If a fire does break out in your home, Red Cross advises you to ‘Get out, stay out and call for help’, if your house catches fire, and it is crucial that you don’t go inside for anything or anyone, for your health and wellbeing.

They also explain that you may ‘have as little as two minutes’ to escape.

Installing and testing smoke alarms regularly are a must to ensure that they work, and working with your family to formulate a practiced fire escape plan could make all the difference.

You may only have two minutes or less to get out of the home, so knowing exactly where you’re going could save your life.

Sleep expert urges people to avoid 'bed rotting' as social media trend could have shocking consequences

Sleep expert urges people to avoid ‘bed rotting’ as social media trend could have shocking consequences

He has explained why you should avoid bed rotting at all costs, and what you can do to stop the bad habit

People have been warned to avoid the ‘bed rotting’ trend that has gained popularity online.

Experts claim that it could lead to a number of long-term health issues if you aren’t careful.

The trend has gained traction on social media in the last year or so, going viral among younger users in particular.

It basically consists of staying in bed for a whole day or weekend, doing nothing more, as it claims to benefit your health and mental health, while allowing you to catch up on sleep.

It’s becoming more of a common practice, as according to Mental Health UK, one in five adults aren’t getting enough sleep.

However, Bunk Beds expert Adeel Ul-Haq explained to the Mirror that ‘bed rotting’ isn’t the way to go about combating your problems, as it can lead to depression, high blood pressure, obesity and stroke.

While many younger people think that it can help with the stresses of everyday life and allows them to recharge their batteries, Adeel says that this isn’t the case at all.

“The research on catch-up sleep is very limited, and while some people may see positive effects on their mental and physical well-being, as a long-term strategy, you’re much better off maintaining a consistent sleep schedule every evening,” he highlighted.

The expert went on to highlight that making up for poor sleep in the week by sleeping in on the weekend still creates a ‘sleep debt’, which will be paid through an increased calorie intake, less energy usage, weight gain and health problems.

Though people may love the sound of lying around doing nothing for an entire day, it turns out that too much lying down can cause high blood pressure, which is known as supine hypertension or nocturnal hypertension.

This can happen when the autonomic nervous system doesn’t function properly.

Another factor that can cause people to bed rot is a lack of natural light, something to consider with the winter months approaching – a SAD lamp might be your saviour in this situation.

Regular exercise should also be high up on the priority list, while Adeel warns that spending too much time awake in bed means that your brain will get used to bed rotting, making it harder to fall asleep.

“By spending time in bed all day, you are impacting the amount of natural sunlight your body is exposed to,” he explained.

Exposure to sunlight helps to regulate your hormones and sleep, which happens as your skin produces melanin, which can be used to create the hormone melatonin, which helps with sleep.

Adeel further added: “A lack of melatonin can disrupt your circadian rhythm and sleep pattern, leading to an irregular sleep-wake cycle.

“Our circadian rhythm, or internal clock, relies on consistent patterns of light and dark. When disrupted, it can throw off your body’s natural processes, often resulting in grogginess, mood swings, and a weakened immune system.”

A regular sleep routine is key to stop bed rotting, instead of catching up on bed, ‘creating a relaxing environment’ to fall asleep in.

“Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day and never lie in on the weekends, as this can disrupt that pattern,” Adeel recommended.

The recommended temperature for sleep is anywhere from 16-18°C, and it’s advised that you avoid looking at screens for an hour before some shut-eye.

Keeping your room clean and distinct from a living space can also send the right message to your brain that it is a place for sleep.

Wheel of Fortune contestant responds to giving the 'worst wrong answer in gameshow history'

Wheel of Fortune contestant responds to giving the ‘worst wrong answer in gameshow history’

Wheel of Fortune contestant Will Jordan got it horribly wrong

Viewers think Wheel of Fortune contestant Will Jordan may have given the ‘worst wrong answer in gameshow history’ during a recent episode.

The Connecticut man featured on Monday’s (11 November) showing alongside Kitina Thomas and Chantel Toran, all of whom were playing for the jackpot.

TV host Ryan Seacrest was on hand to ask the group if they could figure out the missing letters to a pretty common phrase, as the tiles read: “_ _ _ E _OURSE_F A ROUN_ OF A_ _ _ AUSE.”

Quick to put his hand up, Will came up with the most incredibly wrong guess.

Viewers were stunned when Will answered with: ‘Treat yourself a round of sausage’, which was clearly not the answer, no matter how much we wanted it to be.

After all, you can’t beat a good German bratwurst at the Christmas markets.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, the correct answer was ‘Give yourself a round of applause’, guessed by fellow contestant Kitina.

“Will, I kind of like yours better,” the host joked.

“That sounds better than just clapping right now.”

Maggie Sajak, the daughter of former host Pat Sajak, said: “Alright Will, we had a little missolve in the first game.

“That’s okay! Could you walk me through how you’re feeling?”

And to be fair to Will, he took it brilliantly, adding: “I tell you, when the lights are on, and you know, the stars and Ryan Seacrest, Vanna White… I just went blank.

“But, if your dad, in retirement, is watching this show, maybe cracks a beer and gets a laugh, it was worth it.”

The clip has been shared thousands of times on social media, as the show captioned their post: “Playing ‘Wheel of Fortune’ on stage is a whole different ball game than playing at home, but Will was a great sport about his missolve! #misssolve #WheelOfFortune.”

Thankfully, Will didn’t leave empty-handed, winning a whopping $8,000 (£6,296) by finishing in third place.

Runner-up Kitina got $10,500 (£8,263), while winner Chantel got $13,000 (£10,230).

Commenting on the blunder on X, one fan said: “I was SCREAMING at the TV!! That wasn’t the only ridiculous flub he made!!!”

7News also tweeted: “This could go down as one of the worst guesses on the Wheel of Fortune of all time.”

While another added: “So funny! I bet it’s hard when the cameras and lights are on you.”

“Happens to everyone, but that’s funny. The way he held back a laugh too. Whoops,” someone else penned.

Diver finds GoPro containing footage of man's final moments before drowning

Diver finds GoPro containing footage of man’s final moments before drowning

The young lad had been enjoying time with mates when he tragically died

A diver found a GoPro containing harrowing footage of a man’s final moments before he drowned.

YouTuber Rich Aloha was looking for treasure at the bottom of a lake in Tennessee when he discovered the lost device.

Two years before, in 2017, Richard Ragland had tragically drowned under a waterfall at Foster Falls State Park.

The man had been swimming just a few days before his 23rd birthday when he filmed the happy memories splashing about with his mates.

Ragland went swimming underneath the waterfall but never resurfaced. While he had reportedly been a strong and confident swimmer, the force of a waterfall can throw off even the best and drag them into danger.

His family were left wondering what had happened to him and park rangers had sent his parents what was supposed to be a drive with footage of him.

Except, when they opened up the parcel they found that the contents had been stolen.

Aloha had been told by the park rangers about Ragland’s tragic death.

So, when the treasure hunter opened up the camera and found the SD card, he was amazed to see it was still working.

He refers to what happened as an ‘out of body experience’ as he was in disbelief.

“I was going through the footage and I said, ‘Oh my God, this is the guy,’” Aloha recalled.

Taking to the internet to search for Ragland’s family, he eventually found a number.

“He actually found Richard’s GoPro camera,” the man’s parents, Robin and Gary McCrear, told WSB-TV.

Aloha said he was ‘glad’ he’d been the one who found the device.

“Because I try to do the right thing and get the item back to the rightful owner,” he added.

The McCrears said at the time that they hadn’t seen all the footage on the card, but what they had seen showed their son enjoying himself.

“What we’ve seen so far is Rich being Rich, living life to the fullest,” Robin said.

This unearthed footage gave the parents some reassurance as they finally received some answer as to just what had happened to the young man.

The mother added of Aloha: “For him to go through his efforts to do his research, make numerous phone calls, he didn’t give up until he got in touch with us and that means the world to us.”

And the YouTuber also said: “They were just stunned, they were just staring at the GoPro in disbelief.

“Words can’t describe how it feels. … I don’t think there’s been a more impactful find.”

People disturbed after man drops salmon with GoPro to the bottom of the ocean to see what happens

People disturbed after man drops salmon with GoPro to the bottom of the ocean to see what happens

They couldn’t believe what the YouTube footage revealed

People have been left feeling quite uncomfortable after a man carried out an experiment involving putting wild caught salmon at the bottom of the ocean.

Unpacking it at the start of the video, he pierces the salmon fillet with some metal sticks and puts it on the seafloor, where several fish can be seen minding their own business.

The YouTube channel, known as Ace Underwater, say that they post ‘unique and funny underwater videos’ in their channel description, and have over 643k views on this video that undertakes an interesting experiment.

After diving down with the piece of pristine salmon, he hooks the metal into the seabed to see what the marine creatures would do at such a sight.

A couple of GoPros are set up next to the meat, ready to capture what happens to the unguarded salmon slice.

This viral video is an intriguing watch, and those on the social media site were not prepared for what was coming, as was the man who set it up.

At the start, he says that he is surprised that the exposed piece of fish is getting no attention from any creatures, apart from one puffer fish who seems to prod at it.

But after five minutes, the man dives back down there to break the salmon piece up a bit, which is when the chaos begins to ensue.

Several fish begin to swim towards the piece after it’s broken up slightly, with the man revealing that in previous experiments, he has learnt that fish prefer for their food to be broken up into smaller pieces to eat.

That’s right – they want to eat the salmon meat.

But they didn’t take a bite yet, as he had to come back down and mash the salmon meat up with a pipe, which finally enticed a large amount of fish to start nibbling at the meat.

Damsel fish were first to the scene, followed by red goat fish, bottom feeders and sergeant fish, who all feasted on the floating pieces of salmon in the seawater.

He explains that breaking it up releases its oils, which attracts the fish due to its scent.

After breaking it up more, an Amore eel seems to smell it, and after taking some time to find it through its scent, as they have poor vision, they devour the entire thing, unlike the rest of the creatures before it that seemed happy to share.

After dramatically wrestling with the salmon piece to get it off the metal stick and to signal others to go away, it ingests all the remains of the piece.

But the whole ordeal left a salty taste in a lot of people’s mouths, and it wasn’t because they were looking at seawater.

They were disturbed at the fact that fish were so willing to eat other fish if made available to them, leaving their thoughts in the comments.

One stated: “The fish are eating fish,” while another asked: “Isn’t that sorta like cannibalism for the fish?”

A third commented: “I think if you leave it long enough, they will eat it.”

And a fourth pointed out: “One bite, everybody knows the rules.”
