JoJo Siwa Clarifies Relationship Status with Chris Hughes After Cuddly Mexican Getaway Together

JoJo Siwa is clarifying her relationship status with Chris Hughes.

In an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine on Monday, May 26 per The Independent, the Dance Moms alum addressed speculation about whether she and the British TV host were in a relationship, days after Hughes shared a series of cuddled-up photos with the “Karma” singer to Instagram from a Mexican getaway.

On the show, Andi Peters mentioned Siwa’s rumored relationship with Hughes and suggested that he was her boyfriend. She laughed awkwardly and said, “No.”

When asked if Siwa, 22, and Hughes, 32, had a Love Island-like, “where’s your head at” conversation about exclusivity, Siwa said: “Christopher and I have had a lot of chats.”

Added the “Guilty Pleasure” musician: “We have never gone into the kitchen and said, ‘My head’s not turning any way,’” implying they haven’t made their relationship exclusive.

Peters then joked that Hughes was “letting us down,” but Siwa came to his defense and said, “Chris couldn’t let me down even if he tried.”

“Chris is the best man,” she added.

Siwa and Hughes were photographed on Sunday, May 25 in Heathrow Airport, ahead of the pop star’s Monday night performance in the U.K.

The Love Island alum appeared to be waiting — with a bouquet of pink flowers — for Siwa in a blue sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and a baseball hat.

As Siwa arrived with her mom, Jessalynn, the pair were snapped embracing, smiling and holding hands as they left the airport together.

Over the past few weeks, Hughes and Siwa have made headlines following their time together in the Celebrity Big Brother house and Siwa’s subsequent breakup from ex-partner Kath Ebbs.

On Tuesday, May 20, Hughes shared a series of cuddled-up photos to Instagram with the “Boomerang” artist while on vacation in Mexico.

“The previous 7 days have been the prettiest,” he captioned the post, which featured an opening image of Siwa smiling as she rested her head on his shoulder and held his arm.

In the comments, she added: “& happiest:). Heart is overflowing.”

Additional snaps featured the pair taking a selfie together, cuddling on a couch, hugging in a restaurant and more.

Siwa also shared her own carousel of photos to Instagram, captioning them: “This year’s birthday week was more magical than anything🤍🪄. Full of surprises, family time, performing, chilling, laughing, loving, smiling and good meaningful cries. Absolutely beautiful, wouldn’t change a single thing🤍.”

Added the singer and dancer, “A week I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

Hughes replied, “Oh Joelle,” referring to Siwa’s actual first name.

On Wednesday, May 21 Siwa told PEOPLE at the Epic Universe Celestial Carpet Opening Celebration at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida that she’s “happier than ever right now.”

Siwa noted that she’s in “such a great place” and is “so, so happy.”

“I said to somebody the other day, ‘I don’t think humans are meant to feel this happy,’ and that somebody was like, ‘No. I think you are actually,'” she said.

Added Siwa, “It’s good happy.”

During an appearance on This Morning last month, the pair opened up about their relationship.

“He’s a gorgeous boy … Look, he’s a great guy. It is platonic, we have a lot of fun together,” Siwa said at the time.

She added that while she didn’t know “any future of anything,” she was “really grateful for our dynamic that we have in our bond.”

Hughes called his bond with Siwa “a soulmate friendship,” but noted it wasn’t “the standard friendship that you have with your friends.”

He added how significant it was to have Siwa on Celebrity Big Brother U.K. with him.
