Dwayne Johnson is highlighting the artistic skill of a young fan.
Johnson, 53, shared a video to Instagram on Thursday, May 22, showcasing two pencil-drawn portraits of himself that a 14-year-old fan named Orion sent to him for Johnson’s birthday on May 2. He commended the teenager on his impressive visual art skills.
“It’s highly unlikely that a gift from a fan makes it all the way to my office — so when this 14yr old kid @artbyorion11’s gift arrived, it caught my attention,” Johnson wrote in a caption to his post. “14yrs old and decides to shoot his shot. I respect that – way to go Orion!! 👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾 You’re an amazing artist and remember- the bigger the dream, the harder the work. Keep working hard. Your buddy ~ DJ.”
In the video, Johnson shared a note that Orion left for him, in which he told the movie star, “You inspire me to work harder, dream bigger and to not give up, that’s why I put my heart in every pencil stroke. Thank you for being a role model to not just me, but millions of people that dream big because of you.”
Johnson was so impressed with the teenager’s work that he stated in his post that he wanted to reach out separately to commission Orion for further work. “If you’re not too busy, I have an idea of something very special I’d like you to draw for me,” Johnson added in the caption. “I’ll hire you and I’ll be in touch to discuss your rates 💵 😊 ✍🏽”
Orion’s drawings included one portrait of Johnson and another image that showed the actor and WWE star with his pet dog Hobbs, whose death Johnson announced back in February. Coincidentally, Johnson pointed out in his video that a friend of his gave him a photo of himself with Hobbs for his birthday that matched the image Orion used for his drawing.
“Orion, you keep dreaming big, man. Thank you so much for these, these are beautiful, man – I can see how you put your heart into every pencil stroke,” Johnson said in his video, as he showed off Orion’s artwork. “Look at the detail! This is so cool. Big ol’ head here, thank you man! You captured literally the size of my head, which circumference-wise, is pretty big.”
