George Lopez is addressing the cancellation of his show Lopez vs. Lopez.

The 64-year-old comedian shared his initial thoughts on the NBC sitcom’s cancellation — which was announced on May 9 — in an Instagram caption while reposting a TikTok video of his costar, 29-year-old daughter Mayan Lopez, comedically responding to the news.

“We will definitely put something out officially, [but] for now, I would really love to thank all of you who have showed us so much love and support for the past three seasons,” George wrote in his caption.

“This wasn’t just a show, it was and is our lives,” he continued. “We created a family. We created jobs for RAZA, there is so much more that goes on behind the scenes and I am forever grateful and thankful for every single member of our #LopezVSLopez familia♥️.”

The Lopez vs. Lopez season 3 finale aired in February.

In Mayan’s video, the words, “when NBC cancels your show after 3 seasons,” could be seen on the bottom of the clip. Mayan reacted to the news by mouthing along the words to a trending TikTok sound — “that was pretty f—— rude” — as she drank a beverage.

Mayan, who is also a co-creator, writer, producer and star of Lopez vs. Lopez also shared another reaction to the cancellation on her Instagram Stories, noting that she was still reeling from the news. She shared that she and the cast and crew “loved the show,” that she was glad the fans did too and that it was “forever in TV.”

The show was one of many cancellations that NBC announced on May 9, which also included Night Court, Suits LA, The Irrational and Found, per Deadline.

Lopez vs. Lopez followed the story of a working-class Latino (played by George) who moves in with his Gen Z daughter (Mayan) as they try to rebuild their relationship and make up for the lost time they had. It also stars Matt Shively, Brice Gonzalez, Selenis Levya and Al Madrigal.

As for what’s next for the George Lopez alum, the comedian previously shared with PEOPLE at NBC’s Comedies celebration in October that the sitcom could be his last project.

“I mean, I would like for it to go a few more seasons,” George said at the time. “But yeah, after this, I’d like to have a little time for myself.”

George also shared that he has enjoyed getting to see his daughter shine and come into her own as a creator while crafting the show.
